Learning outcomes Students who successfully complete this course should be able to:
1. Identify the elements of a scientific text, such as the problematic, the research question, the argument, the objectives, the contribution and the relevance;
2. Elaborate a research design based on a theoretical framework and using appropriate and relevant methods to achieve the objectives of the work;
3. Develop a master's research project (whether in the scope of the dissertation, or aiming at a future and hypothetical internship theme) with all the stages of planning and carrying out the research;
4. Present and defend research results.
Syllabus 1. Introduction: what is methodology and what is it for? Science, epistemology and knowledge production paradigms
2. Elements of a research project | from the problematic to the argument: how to make a research project?
3. Fraud, plagiarism and citation rules
4. Search tools and text selection techniques
5. How to make a State-of-the-Art? Reading and recording techniques
6. How to make a theoretical/conceptual framework?
7. Methodology and method(s): epistemological discussions, practical implications
8. Research Methods in International Relations: field work, interviews (and ethics), case study, discourse analysis and mixed methods
9. Feasibility: investigation plan and schedule
