Learning outcomes Throughout the semester, students are expected to deepen their understanding of a set of historical-artistic, iconographic, and iconological concepts, aiming for a profound comprehension of the various artistic movements from the 18th century to the present day (the historical period known as the Contemporary Age), and to develop the necessary skills, in terms of knowledge and critical thinking, to relate the influence of art to the various creative expressions of contemporary times.
Syllabus An age of transformations; Transitions in the 20th century: from pictorial impression to bodily expression; Cinema in the first half of the 20th century; Wars and their impact on the arts; Art and society in the post-war period; The century of the ego and the death of the object and the author; Cybernetic society and emerging artistic expressions; Art, image, and visual culture of the 21st century; The concept of gender in contemporary art.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria This CU will involve a practical, group project to be developed throughout the semester with the professor's support. It will be presented publicly in class. An assessment test will be administered.

The final grade will be calculated according to the following weighting:
• Attendance – 10%
• Group Practical Work – 45%
• Assessment Test – 45%

Assessment Test Date: June 2nd, 2026.
