Learning outcomes The general objectives of this curricular unit are the following:

1) develop in students a global view of computer animation and its impact on the digital game industries, film arts, engineering, etc.;
2) provide students with skills in various techniques of 3D modeling and computer animation.

Regarding the specific objectives, and at the end of the semester, students should be able to:

1) execute creative concepts and ideas through a variety and combination of techniques of computer animation;
2) create 3D characters and creatures ranging from life-like and anatomically correct, to cartoon and anime styles;
3) combine texture mapping, shaders, lighting environments, animating cameras and ‘rigs’ for 3D models and characters in animation sequences;
4) apply 3D techniques that demonstrate characters with realistic motion and a full range of emotion in animated characters;
5) produce a 3D computer animation.

3) Character animation.
4) Key-frame based animation.
5) Rigging and posing.
6) Walking and running.
7) Motion capture-based animation.
8) Motion tracking.
9) Particle system.
10) Natural phenomena: fluids, hair, cloth, etc.
11) Deformable models.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The assessment has two components: a theoretical component, accounting for 50% of the final grade, and a practical component, also accounting for 50% of the final grade.
