Learning outcomes . Characterize the concept of "presence" as a symptom and perennial mark of contemporaneity;
. Make known some of the most influential theoretical perspectives that move in the logical space of Contemporary Thought; . Identify and recognize the cultural challenges of contemporary thought (from the 18th century to the present);
. Pinpoint the diversity of thinkers, schools and currents in their multiple historical-cultural contexts;
. Underline the cultural relevance of such thinkers, schools and trends today.
Syllabus 1. Actuality / Contemporaneity; the concept of "presence" and the difference it can be drawn between actuality and contemporaneity; contemporaneity as effort to "replenis" key issues. Dominant vectors of the contemporary paradigm;
2. Reflection on Being and Existence. The move towards phenomenology.
3. From Edmund Husserl to Michel Henry. The radical nature of the phenomenological method and the critical problem of the apodicticity of the ego cogito. Transcendental intersubjectivity. The emergence of alterity, the phenomenology of the other as face and the phenomenology of life.
4. Hermeneutics, fundamental ontology and onto-phenomenology of Existence. The existential philosophies of Gabriel Marcel, Jean-Paul Sartre, Albert Camus and Michel Henry. Franz Rosenzweig's ontology and reflection on dialogical thought. Leonardian creationism.
5. Conclusions. Aporias and solutions to the debate on the crisis of contemporary culture.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria 1) Lecture: theoretical and theoretical-practical registers;
2) Practical work: reading workshops to be carried out at key moments throughout the teaching-learning activities.
Assessment:
1) Final written test or, alternatively, a class question (individual) which should be the expression of a critical reading of one of the topics/proposals for reflection previously provided by the teacher. (40%);
2) Written work (in pairs) on an author, theme and/or text chosen from the syllabus (60%);
3) Factors such as active participation in the proposed activities, attendance, punctuality and the overall behavior of the students will also be taken into account. The overall weighting of these factors may add up to two points (10%) to the total mark obtained.
Any evidence of plagiarism will be punished by the awarding of a zero to the assessment element that has improperly used third-party texts.
