Learning outcomes |
LAW MODULE Provide students with fundamental legal knowledge applicable to Health Unit Management, promoting the ability to interpret, apply, and integrate the legal and regulatory framework into the decision-making process, ensuring legally sound, responsible management in accordance with the principles of the rule of law. Objectives: i) Understand the fundamentals of the legal system applicable to the health sector and the management of Health Units; ii) Identify the main sources of Health Law; ETHICS MODULE This module is an introduction to ethics, promoting reflection on ethical issues involved in health management, emphasizing the importance of professional ethics and conduct. Objectives: (i) to define the scope of ethics; (ii) to understand the assumptions of different bioethical paradigms and reflect on their implications and dilemmas; (iii) to assess the role of codes of ethics in the health sector.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
LAW MODULE (50%) The module will be assessed through the preparation of an individual written assignment on one of the topics included in the curriculum. The specific topic must be discussed and agreed upon in advance with the instructor. The paper should demonstrate an understanding of the legal framework, the relationship between legislation and relevant doctrine, and a critical analysis of the issues addressed, with application to the context of healthcare provision. The paper will have a maximum length of 20 pages, single-spaced, in Arial Narrow font, size 12. ETHICS MODULE (50%) Assessment is continuous, with a weighted average of the following instruments: - Completion of a final group assignment (maximum of 4 people) in written and oral form: (40%); - Completion of experimental assignments and classroom activities (question-lesson, concept map, and summary): (10%).
