Learning outcomes The fundamental objective of this CU is to provide doctoral students with the opportunity to develop research work leading to the development of their doctoral thesis proposal. At the end of the CU, students must submit and publicly defend a doctoral thesis proposal.
Syllabus Portuguese legislation on doctoral programs (third cycles of studies). General overview of organizing and writing doctoral theses. Preparation of a doctoral thesis project. Presentation and defense of a doctoral thesis project.
Main Bibliography Scientific articles according to the subject of study, made available through the online knowledge library (B-On) subscribed to by the Documentation Services – Library of the University of Beira Interior. Online articles and documents made available by the professor or advisor.
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The doctoral thesis project is prepared under the supervision of a department faculty member who will hold working meetings with the student as often as appropriate, in coordination with the faculty member responsible for the CU.
The doctoral thesis project is evaluated through public examinations before a panel of judges composed of the advisor, a chair, and a examiner, appointed by the Course's Scientific Committee.
