Learning outcomes |
This course aims to equip students with basic knowledge about adapted physical activity and sport, its conceptual aspects, benefits and social and institutional context (historical and present day). It's also our intent to promote contact of students with various forms of disability sports. To understand the contribution of sport and physical activity in individuals with disabilities and special educational needs; To understand the history and cultural evolution of adapted sports; To identify the main benefits of exercise training and sport for people with disabilities; To understand the organizational framework of adapted sports at national and international level; To describe the specifics of different types of disabilities, etiology and implications for sport pratice; To describe the main charateristics of different Paralympic sports, their classification criteria and eligibility as well as its main rules.
