Year 1
Semester S1
ECTS Credits 6
Workload PL(15H)/T(30H)/TP(15H)
Scientific area ENGENHARIA ELETROTÉCNICA
Entry requirements Solid knowledge of circuit analysis and power electronics.
Learning outcomes The curricular unit has two main goals:
(1) at first intends to give to the student the knowledge that he needs to understand how the electronic energy conversion systems found in the industry work;
(2) through the acquired teachings, the student must be able to conceive, design and develop solutions in the industrial electronic energy conversion systems field.
Syllabus 1. Power electronics review: Principles of electronic power conversion, semiconductors, and topologies of AC / DC converters.
2. DC / DC converters: command / control strategies, analysis and applicability of each approach/topology.
3. DC / AC converters, command / control strategies, analysis and applicability of each approach/topology.
4. AC / DC converters (rectifiers) with improved power factor.
5. Introduction to Matrix Converters
6. Conversion topologies that integrate several conversion stages: Applicability of each of the solutions
