Entry requirements |
The Curricular Unit has no entry requirements, however it assumes that students successfully attended the Architectural Design Curricular Units of the previous years.

Learning outcomes |
The Project IV/2 course, following on from Project V/1, through design practice, studies programmes and methodologies that facilitate intervention proposals in complex urban realities, promoting an understanding of the problem of architectural object design and urban restructuring, in an integrated architectural vision. It starts from an inverse relationship to the previous semester in length and detail, first designing the ‘Construction of New “Objects” and rehabilitation of “Existing Structures” to Urban Project in the “construction of the form of inhabiting” the city.

|
Syllabus |
We start from an inverse relationship to the previous semester, in the development of work from the particular to the general. This achieves the goal of continuous development, in the same area of intervention, of questioning various themes of work, allowing for the articulation and establishment of the confrontation of different scales and design problems, from the general to the particular and vice versa. In the first phase, the students will be asked to delve individually into the selected sector of intervention in the development of the Students Residences programme, by building new architectural ‘objects’ and/or renovating ‘Existing Structures’, from the proposed idea and its formalisation to its material and constructive characterisation. In a second phase, the themes and individual sectoral work proposals will be reinserted into the urban integration of the whole urban area.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
The pedagogy focus on interrelated components: lectures, framework for the different phases of the practical project exercises defined in the programme of the CU and the guidelines for the semester, with stages of increasing complexity according to the pre-defined objectives; critical monitoring of the different phases of the practical project exercise; presentation and critical discussion in class and monitoring of the work. Assessment is continuous and face-to-face, without examination, with compulsory attendance of 75% in class. Qualitative marks are awarded at the end of each phase of the project and take place after the students have presented their work in person and handed it in. At the end of the semester, the work produced will be assessed and a final grade will be given with equity to all students who have taken part in this programme.
