Learning outcomes |
1. Critically understand the territory of the Historical Villages of Portugal, their dwelling practices, vernacular typologies, and contemporary challenges; 2. Develop analytical, surveying, and representational skills (manual drawing, photography, and critical cartography) applied to the reading of place and to the interpretation of its social, cultural, and spatial dynamics; 3. Promote design methodologies that articulate critical analysis with creative synthesis in the formulation of grounded and context-specific architectural proposals.

Syllabus |
Housing, Place and Context. Critical Reading. Survey and critical reading of the territory: study visits, manual drawing, photography and critical cartography; Identification and analysis of housing typologies and collective spaces; Production of cognitive and photographic maps as interpretative tools; Exploratory design exercise at two scales: • Minimum dwelling (30–60 m² unit in a heritage context); • Collective infrastructures (articulated with community spaces such as gardens, laundry facilities, square, etc.); Critical reflection through the production of territorial notebooks, synthesis panels and final essays on “Dwelling in Heritage”.
