Learning outcomes This unit revisits a historical connection between architectural education and contemporary artistic practices. Exploring the correspondences between both fields, the goal is to reinforce knowledge of 20th century artistic practices in correlation with the spatial practice of architecture.
Departing from classic terminologies and movements of modern art, the unit offers a comprehensive introduction to contemporary art and the connections that its practices establish with the field of spatial production in architecture, be it in terms of conceptual references, parallels in process or modes of representation.
Beyond technical and functional dimensions of architecture, it is assumed that students will acquire an understanding of architectural practice in its relationships with artistic thinking, allowing for an expansion of disciplinary discourse and the development of critical perspectives on the meaning and diversity of contemporary spatial practices.
