Learning outcomes |
Allow understanding and deepen already consolidated notions regarding: 1. How construction systems are interconnected with the conceptual systems of architecture, contributing to the holistic understanding of the building as a system of systems; 2. Identification, characterization and representation of the main construction systems of contemporary architecture (structural, spatial closure, infrastructural), especially when applied to the design of a collective housing building; 3. How construction systems should contribute to aspects related to efficiency in the use of available resources; 4. Practices and graphic codes in force in the constructive characterization of a building, especially with regard to its detailing and subsequent communication to the work; 5. Graphic and volumetric representation of the construction entities under study, taking into account the scales to be used and the information to be transmitted.

Syllabus |
1. Constructive systems as a counterpart to conceptual systems - interconnection and interdependence; designing the building as a system of systems; critical deepening of the notions of coordination and compatibility of different construction systems; deepening the understanding of the implications for the formal expression and language of buildings; 2. Deepening, through graphic representation, the characterization of the main construction systems of contemporary architecture, in particular structural, spatial closure and infrastructural systems; 3. Construction systems and efficiency in the use of available resources; cultural, technological and economic consideration; 4. Practices, codes and standards in force in the design and dimensioning of construction systems 5. Graphic and volumetric representation of the entities under study; most common dimensions of construction elements; constructive cuts and constructive nodes; constructive perspectives and models.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
Due to the nature of the subject, assessment will be continuous and ongoing. The fundamental assessment moments established in the form of written tests will be completed. The assessment of these tests will complement that of the practical work.
