Learning outcomes This Course aims to introduce students to the "Earth Charter Project-Instrument for Sustainability" as a tool for Education for Sustainable Development, and develop a comprehensive view of Environmental Education in the teaching / learning and training in school communities At the end of the course the student should be able to:
.Explain the importance of Environmental Education on awareness and training of individuals to build a Sustainable Future;
.Make a critical and informed analysis of the international document "EARTH CHARTER", and assess their contribution to the development of awareness and attitudes;
.Focusing on the Environmental Education, apply concepts, develop and propose activities and practices in an educational context, cross-cutting diferent educational areas;
.Interpret and share their scientific research in Environmental Education
. Prepare a scientific paper for publication
.Demonstrate communication skills
Syllabus This UC is designed to introduce students to a comprehensive Environmental Education, so the program includes the following topics:
1. Ecology and Environment
2. Production and Consumption Models compatible with the Earth's regenerative capacities, and quality of life of Communities
3. The Earth Charter
3.1. Importance of Education for a Sustainable Future
3.2. Environmental Protection, Human Rights, Peace and Equitable Development
3.3. Awareness of shared responsibility and a Global Interdependence
3.4. Democratic Societies, Participatory, Sustainable and Fair
3.5. Culture of Tolerance and Non-violence
4. Environmental Education / Education for Sustainable Development (EA / EDS)
4.1. Concepts and Methodologies
4.2. Strategies and Practices for participation
5. Integration of culture, knowledge, values and skills for the Construction of a Sustainable Future in the educational processes
