Learning outcomes Acquire knowledge in fundamental areas of chemistry:
Chemical equilibrium and its applications.
Organic chemistry - the basics.
Know the concept of chemical equilibrium and the factors that it depends. Analyze acid base reactions. Identify buffers and explain their role. Determine the solubility of a compound. Know oxidation-reduction processes. Recognize an electrochemical cell. Perform calculations involving any of the equilibriums.
Understand and apply the rules of IUPAC nomenclature for organic compounds. Classify and identify the most common organic functional groups. Predict three-dimensional structure of organic molecules by applying the basic principles of bonding, hybridization and analysis of conformation. Identify organic compounds interpreting IR and NMR spectra.
