Learning outcomes |
It is intended that students learn the fundamentals of organic chemistry and develop knowledge in some areas of General Chemistry, in particular, the application of the concept of chemical equilibrium to acid-base reactions, oxidation-reduction reactions and solid-liquid equilibrium.
At the end of the course unit the student should be able to: - To apply the concept of chemical equilibrium to acid-base reactions, oxidation-reduction reactions and interpret solubility studies; - Know and apply the rules of IUPAC nomenclature for organic compounds; - Sort and identify most common organic functional groups; - Predict the three-dimensional structure of organic molecules by applying the basic principles of bonding, hybridization and analysis of conformation.
