Ano 1
Semestre S1
Créditos ECTS 5
Carga Horária TP(30H)
Área Científica Ciências do Desporto
Mode of delivery Face-to-face
Learning outcomes Knowledge: Know and explain the specificities of chronic and acute physiological adaptations to effort; Identify aerobic and anaerobic metabolic processes; Know the main ventilatory, cardiorespiratory, hemodynamic, neuromuscular and neurohormonal adaptations in different sports; Know physiological evaluation procedures and load quantification, being able to substantiate the evaluation methodologies; Know the effects of training in high temperature and humidity conditions. Competences: Control and evaluate the general characteristics of the exercises, through the parameters: oxygen consumption, heart rate, blood pressure and subjective perception of effort scale; Identify fatigue screening methodologies; Know the pre-competition optimization techniques of neuromuscular function; Understand the key concepts related to supplementation and doping
Syllabus Cardiovascular training optimization (high intensity methodologies; sea level and altitude training); Optimization of neuromuscular adaptations (advanced training techniques, methodologies to increase post-activation potential); Fatigue study; Sleeping; Active recovery (compression, immersion, thermal applications, etc); Thermoregulation and electrolyte water balance in high temperature and humidity situations; Training load quantification and injury prevention; Tapering techniques ; Exercise physiology in young athlete and the female triad; Ergogenic substances, supplementation and doping.
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The UC assessment, and in the sequence of previous years, includes two formal assessment moments: (i) a knowledge assessment test (individual), frequency, with a weighting of 50% in the final classification; (ii) practical group work, contextualized in the practical content taught in class, with a weight of 50% in the final classification.
