Learning outcomes |
This course unit gives to the students an overview about the structure, function, properties and production of materials used in tissue engineering. At the end of this course unit students must be able to:
- Recognise the importance of developing new biomaterials with appropiated properties to their application in tissue engineering. - Know the different stages of biomaterials certification for their use in the clinical environment. - Manipulate basic laboratory equipment. - Collect, systematize and organize information in order to be aware to discuss a specific theme. - Recognize their limitations and be aware of the importance of keeping their skills update. paying special attention to self-learning based on scientific data available. - Communicate orally and know how to write technical scientific documents.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
In this subject the teaching-learning activities are distributed in theoretical and practical classes. The teacher promotes a great interaction with students in order to ensure their participation and motivation.
Pedagogical methods: - Theoretical classes involve lectures where different themes are presented; - In the practical classes, students perform different experimental protocols under the supervision of the teacher, allowing the consolidation of knowledges taught in the theoretical classes and also the acquisition of practical skills - Students oral presentations based on scientific articles.
Assessment: Final Grade: 70% exam+ 30% Oral presentations
