Learning outcomes |
With this course, we basically intended to provide students with a set of essential tools to the performance of any scientific work: Internship Report, Project Report, Master's Dissertation, Article or PhD Thesis.
Internship Report / Masters / PhD project, proposal elaboration in which the application of all the subjects taught during the semester is evident. The work should present a good structure, adequate methodology to the selected objectives, prior definition and applicability of the operative concepts handled, thematic relevance and clear and fluid written discourse, relay of the desirable linguistic proficiency.

Syllabus |
The written expression. Textual typologies and discursive genres. The scientific text: Academic work; Scientific article; Internship Report, Project Report, Master's Dissertation; PhD final thesis. Methods of bibliographic research, organization and management of the collected materials, reading sheets. Constitutive parts of the academic work (cover, indexes, abstract, keywords, introduction, assembly of the body of work, conclusion, bibliography, annexes, footnotes / text body, style norms). The Word, the sentence, the paragraph, the text. From the simple phrase to the complex phrase (constituents of the sentences). Complex Sentence: coordination and subordination. Evolution of the Portuguese language - Orthographic Agreement of the Portuguese Language of 1990. Treatment of common Portuguese language problems (punctuation, especially the placement of the comma, problems of spelling, difficulties in spelling, lexical creation and renewal).The oral expression.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
Classes aimed at the exposure and application of content: written exercises to apply knowledge; written and oral reflections from texts provided or indicated by the teacher about the programmatic topics addressed; orientation of the works.
Written work (16 values 80%) + presentation (2 values 10%): 18 values (16 + 2) Attendance + Relevant participation in class: 2 values 10% Minimum score for access to the exam period: 6 points. Examination weight in the final classification: 100%. Special Assessment (TE): according to the legislation in force.
