Learning outcomes |
This Course aims to provide an introduction to the study of quality management. At the end of the course, students must be able to discuss the concept of quality, to describe the evolution of quality management systems, to explain the main contributions of the "gurus" of quality, to explain the principles of total quality management, to apply the various quality tools taught in classes, to identify key players in the Portuguese Quality System and to describe the purpose and implications of certification.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
When applicable, case studies drawn from specialized Journals and books (about the reality of businesses environment) will be analysed. In addition, monitoring exercises will be provided to students for practical classes. Students’ participation through discussion and problems resolution is recommended and desirable.
In the evaluation process, the following elements will be considered:
. Written test - 40 % - 03 April . Written Test - 60 % - Undef.
Students who reach a final classification over 10 and simultaneously don’t reach marks under 6 in any one of the written tests will be exempted from exams. In order to gain access to exams, students must attend at least 50% of classes taught throughout the semester and reach at least a final classification equal to 6. Any other situation will be analyzed in light of the "general rules for knowledge evaluation" of the university.
