Profile of the programme
|
Geosynthetics provide sustainable alternatives for increased performance and durability of geotechnical systems. This course is focused on the design and construction using geosynthetics in Infrastructure systems such as retaining walls, steep soil slopes, embankments, working platforms and unpaved roads
The aim of this course is to provide support to the design and proper selection of geosynthetics, considering the regulatory framework in force from 2022 and methodologies with wide international use, and to guarantee the quality of construction with regard to the installation of geosynthetics
This course is intended to be of use for those who are faced with a large choice of geosynthetic products during a project and with a specific regulatory framework of which they are not fully aware of its existence. |
Key learning outcomes
|
Upon completion of the course, the participants will be able to:
- to evaluate the properties of soil-geosynthetic interaction according to currently used methods;
- design geosynthetic reinforced soil structures (walls, steep slopes);
- optimise pavement granular layers;
- design geosynthetic stabilised soil systems;
- select the most appropriate geosynthetics for soil stabilisation and reinforced soil structures;
- perform a critical analysis of results;
- prepare construction quality assurance plans using geosynthetics. |
