Learning outcomes |
This course aims to provide the fundamental knowledge in the following areas: health, safety and health at work and in certification quality management of systems. At the end of this course, students should be able to: - Apply hygiene and safety standards in carrying out the work to protect their health and the work environment - Apply appropriate techniques for handling the biological agents, radioactive chemical and physical, according to industrial hygiene standards - Identify the causes and consequences of accidents at work - Select the IPE based on the characteristics of users, the nature of the risks and types of work - Know the vocabulary and quality language - Know the importance of management by process in an Organization - Describe, implement and interpret the purpose of a Quality Management System and its role in the institutions

1. General concepts and rules of safety, hygiene and health at work 2. Risk analysis 3. Individual protection equipment 4. Chemical and Biological Contamination 5. Ionizing and non ionizing radiations 6. Physical risks: noise, vibration, electrical current, thermal environment and lighting 7. Quality concept and historical evolution of the concept of Quality 8. The Portuguese Quality System, the subsystems of Standards, Metrology and Qualification (Certification and Accreditation) 9. Introduction to Quality Management and ISO 9000 standards: NP EN ISO 9000, NP EN ISO 9001 and ISO 9004 10. Methodologies for the implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS)

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
Knowledge Assessment: 85% Exams + 15% Assignment 85% (3 exams) = 50% Module 1 (two exams) + 35% Module 2 (one exam). 15% Preparation of a group project and its presentation. A final grade of 9.50 on the exams qualifies for an exam waiver. The minimum average grade for the teaching-learning component must be 5 points.
Assessment by final exam: exams (85%) + group project (15%)
