Learning outcomes This CU aims to provide students with practical skills that enable them to correctly and expeditiously perform basic techniques and unit operations essential for an industrial Chemist.
At the end of the course students should be able to:
-Work in a chemistry laboratory complying with safety standards for the handling of chemicals, taking into account their physical and chemical characteristics, recognizing the specific hazards of their use
-Handle material and equipment with correctness and in compliance with safety standards
-Choose and use scales properly
-Select and handle the volume measurement material compatible with the rigor required for a given task
-Choose the right material for solution preparation
-Measure masses and volumes and evaluate the accuracy and uncertainty of measurements
-Prepare solutions with solid solutes
-Prepare solutions with liquid solutes
-Calibrate glassware and micropipettes
-Wash all used material properly
Syllabus - Preparation of solutions by mass measurement
- Preparation of solutions by volume measurement (from concentrated acid)
