Learning outcomes This CU aims to provide students with practical skills that enable them to correctly and expeditiously perform basic techniques and unit operations essential for an industrial Chemist.
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- Handle reagents, material and equipment with correctness and in compliance with safety standards
- Calibrate micropipettes
- Measure volumes using micropipettes
- Select and handle the volume measurement material compatible with the rigor required for a given task
- Choose the right material for solution preparation
- Measure masses and volumes and evaluate associated accuracy and uncertainty
- Prepare solutions by diluting a stock solution
- Use the pH meter and perform its calibration
- Use a burette
- Perform volumetric analysis (titrations)
- Wash all used material properly.
Syllabus - Use of micropipettes
- Preparation of solutions by diluting a stock solution
- Use / Calibration of a pH Meter
- Volumetric analysis (acid-base titration) - use of burettes
