Introduction to the fundamental theoretical framework for the evolution of studies on fashion, its theoretical foundations, design methodologies including design for sustainability in fashion design. - Be able to an analysis on the theoretical framework of studies on fashion, its evolution and importance for the development of the area of fashion design. - Discuss the role and contribution of design and fashion designer as an agent of change, taking into account the changes that are considered necessary for the development of the sustainable economy, society and environment. - Explain how the theoretical foundations, creative principles and categories of creation, contribute to the practice of the fashion designer. - Be able to describe and critically analyze the functions and responsibilities of the fashion designer, inserted in the system and context of the fashion industry.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
The teaching methodology is based on theoretical explanation with presentation of videos, images and graphs for discussion and debates that are stimulated with activities in the classroom for a more active and participatory participation of students. Mandatory activities for uc completion: Critical Review Work with presentation of scientific text on a topic/book/chapter/article at the student's choice (and with review and approval of the teacher) in relation to the topics of the UC (65%); attendance, class activities and complementar works: small research, synthesis and presentation in class of topics related to UC topics (35%).
The evaluation criteria are related to the coherence and deepening of the contents presented, document quality (graphic design), critical reflection, references consulted and adaptation to bibliographic standards.
