Learning outcomes |
The objectives of the course are to develop a well-designed and original doctoral research proposal; Demonstrate quality in defining the objectives of the research project; Correctly define the context and state of the art of the problem under study; Produce a quality proposal on a theoretical, methodological and planning level; Consolidate research methodologies and techniques; Produce a well-structured document by scientific writing; Present, with clarity and rigour, and defend, in a relevant and quality manner, the research proposal, in a viva voice exam before a jury.

Syllabus |
The programmatic contents of the course directly correspond with the contents to be developed in the thesis proposal. Each thesis project adapts to the particularities of the different methods and objectives of Design research. The structure of the thesis project to be presented must comply with the model document used in the doctoral program. It is as follows: 1. Title of the thesis; 2. Summary; 3. Index; 4. Justification and originality of the thesis; 5. General and specific objectives; 6. Theme and problematic; 7. Research questions and hypotheses; 8. State of the art and theoretical review; 9. Research methodologies and creation processes; 10. Timetable; 11. Bibliography. The research project is flexible and must be fine-tuned in its details during the investigative process. The thesis project, presented and defended in this UC, must be developed collaboratively between the student and their advisor(s).

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
Theoretical-practical teaching will allow the explanation of concepts, the description of procedures and their practical implementation: the sharing and discussion of scientific bibliography and projects in their initial phase (title + abstract, up to 3 pages, at the beginning of the semester), and writing exercises that will ensure consistency, mastery and autonomy for students. Tutorial guidance will be predominant in close monitoring, attention to the specificity of the research, fundamental or applied, and the regularity of monitoring and mentoring. Carrying out the research project with supervisor (s) and integrating it into one of the i*A - Arts Research Unit laboratories. The curricular unit will be evaluated through the public defense of the thesis project before a jury at the end of the semester (100%). The jury comprises the UC regent (president), the supervisor (or a member of the guidance team), and a doctoral researcher external to the institution.
