Learning outcomes Produce cutting-edge knowledge in the area and activity of Design and the interconnection between artistic and related areas; Apply the most advanced and specialized techniques, including synthesis and evaluation capabilities, allowing the resolution of critical and complex problems in the area of research and innovation; Expand knowledge of the subject area and redefine existing professional practices; Demonstrate a specific level of authority, innovation, autonomy, scientific and professional integrity; Develop and communicate new ideas or processes at the forefront of work or study contexts, including in research, and with social impact. Defend, in a relevant and quality way, the Thesis developed in a viva-voice exam before a jury.
Syllabus 1) Preparation of the doctoral thesis or equivalent work, including the research work inherent therein;
2) The writing of an academic document according to UBI’s doctoral regulation (Despacho n.º 8735/2019, de 2 de outubro de 2019).
Main Bibliography A specific bibliography used by the student for ongoing research work.
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The doctoral student must present and defend his thesis before a jury at the end of the semester (100%). The evaluation of the curricular unit will be carried out through the public defense of the thesis project. The jury comprises the course coordinator (president), the supervisor (or a member of the guidance team) and a doctoral researcher external to the institution. The classification is expressed from 0 to 20 values. The defense lasts a maximum of two and a half hours (one hundred and fifty minutes), including the candidate's oral presentation, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes (Despacho n.º 8735/2019, de 2 de outubro de 2019).
