Learning outcomes |
With the aim of developing and deepening knowledge and skills in exercise guidance and prescription in the context of exercise and health, upon completing the CU the student must be able to: 1. Analyze the concepts associated with the profile of the physical exercise professional and their intervention in multidisciplinary teams. 2. Understand the pedagogical principles underlying individualized training sessions and exercise and health activities 3. Acquire basic knowledge about instruments to support exercise in the context of exercise and health 4. Analyze the main health changes associated with diseases and their implications for physical exercise 5. Demonstrate skills in programming and guiding physical exercise sessions in the context of the health conditions addressed. 6. Integrate and mobilize knowledge from Specific Methodology I of the Exercise and Health option to solve practical problems in different internship locations and contexts.

Syllabus |
1.Guidance of activities in the context of Exercise and Health 1.1. Professional framework in the various areas of activity; 1.2. The role of the physical exercise coach in modifying behaviors 1.3. Structuring pedagogical guidance in group classes and personalized training 1.4. Pedagogical qualities: communication, conflict management, and relationships 2. Exercise prescription in the context of exercise and health 2.1. Construction and training control variables 2.2. Load progression for the development of the different components of physical fitness 2.3. Materials and equipment: standards and safety 3. Exercise and health in special populations 3.1. Exercise and oncological diseases: concepts, effects and basic guidelines for prescription 3.2. Exercise and aging: concepts, effects and elementary guidelines for promoting longevity.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
Course unit assessment will be carried out by evaluating students’ performance regarding the mastery and understanding of concepts related to exercise guidance and prescription. The assessment includes:
1 – Test on the contents covered in Modules 1 and 2 – 45% (20/11)
2 – Individual assignment consisting of the presentation of a lesson plan – 30% (11/12)
3 – Test on the contents covered in Module 3 – 25% (18/12)
Final grade: The teaching–learning assessment grade (CEA) = Test 1 × 0.45 + Individual assignment × 0.30 + Test 2 × 0.25.
