Learning outcomes |
Students should be able to know and integrate information about the epidemiology and clinical presentation of the most prevalent pathologies; understand the relationship between exposure to environmental toxicants and health consequences to populations; understand the need for pharmacotherapeutic monitoring of a patient, propose interventions to optimize therapy. In addition, they should be able to consult the sources of medication information and perform a set of procedures (anthropometry, use of inhalation devices, insulin administration, spirometry, diabetic foot counselling, and phototype determination) and determinations (arterial pulse and glycemia). Students are expected to participate adequately and effectively in the community as public health professionals, promoting national health projects and programs, and providing counselling on major health issues.

Syllabus |
The initial pedagogical unit introduces the basic concepts of Epidemiology, Health, Sickness, and Pharmacotherapy and allows the introduction of clinical histories and discussion of pharmaceutical supervision, enabling the student to solve pharmaceutical situations. The following topics, specific to each system, allow discussion of the protocols for prevention, screening, and therapy (pharmacological and non-pharmacological) of the most prevalent pathologies of different organ systems. The student acquires, for all the topics covered, competencies of interpretation of content integration, problem-solving, group discussion and teamwork, which also allows transversal skills to be developed.
