Learning outcomes In this course, it is expected that students understand the main concepts related to signal analysis and processing. Also, they should be able to identify the several phases that compose the typical chain of signal analysis, along with the main techniques that are used at each step.
At a second level, students should get the ability to identify requisites, plan and implement a system that evolves signal analysis: selection of the signals to be used, planning of the data acquisition framework and protocol. Identification of data variation factors and of the methods for noise handling.
Syllabus Introduction. Principles of digital signal processing. Vetctor spaces. Linear systems. Fourier Analysis. Filters: introduction and design. Sampling and quantization. Image processing: registration and optimization.
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria Classes are predominantly expositive, divided into the presentations given by teacher and presentations given by students about different subjects related to signal analysis and processing. After the presentations, discussion and criticism about the transmitted subjects will be important, considering the level of scientific maturity desirable for a course of the 3rd cycle.

Each 15 days, students should present and discuss with the class the evolution of their work. At the end, evaluation will be done based on the quality of the report produced (70%) and of the presentations made during the whole semester (30%).
