Learning outcomes The present unit intends to promote capabilities of research, design and development concerning to the manufacturing process. Students should recognize different manufacturing processes, its mechanisms, its potential and limitations for the different type of materials.
Syllabus Introduction; Materials; Manufacturing techniques used to form: Metals, Polymers, Composites, Ceramics;
Classification of manufacture process of shaping, joining and finishing. Design guidelines for the selection/application of the different manufacturing techniques. Project: Application of methodologies of selection of manufacture process.
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria Theoretical exposition classes. In practical classes students are faced with case studies. This promotes active participation and self-learning in the consolidation of subjects. The evaluation criteria determine the final grade as the sum of the grade obtained in the assessment test,a pratical group work and the resolution of several specific problems in class for this purpose.
