1.The formation of Portuguese: from Latin to Romance languages; main phonetic phenomena in the transition from Latin to Portuguese.
1.2. Words and Latin expressions in current use.
1.3. Lexical influences from Latin in Portuguese and Spanish.
2. Latin pronunciation and its effects on the accentuation of the Portuguese language.
3. Reading, grammatical commentary and translation of adapted texts.
4. Morphology: declension of nouns, adjectives and pronouns; verbal inflection in indicative, imperative and infinitive. Reflections on the morphology of
Portuguese.
5. Syntax: coordination and subordination (with indicative), Latin cases and syntactic functions, prepositions and their regencies. Latin influences on the
sentence structure of the Portuguese.
6. Culture.
6.1. The Romanization of the Iberian Peninsula.
6.2. Roman religion, mythology, society and games.
6.3. Major literary trends and authors of Latin literature.
