Eugénia de Matos Pedro holds a degree in Portuguese and Spanish Studies, a Master''s degree in Marketing, and a PhD in Management from the University of Beira Interior (UBI). From 2015 to 2018, she was a research fellow at the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). She was also, between 2019 and 2022, a member of the U-Value project team. This project, titled "The impact of Higher Education Institutions on the quality of life of their regions" , was focused on the pivotal role of higher education institutions in enhancing the quality of life in their respective regions. Currently, she is a Researcher and the Coordinator of the Organisational Management group at NECE - Research Centre in Business Sciences, UBI, Covilhã, Portugal. Her current research interests include the intellectual capital influences in organizations, regions, and nations; the measurement and management of performance and quality of life, with a special focus on higher education; and the role plssed by higher education institutions in regional and local development. Her publications include articles published in journals such as Sustainable Development, Journal of Intellectual Capital, Management Decision, Studies in Higher Education, Higher Education, Applied Research in Quality of Life, European Journal of Education, International Journal of Educational Management, among others. She is also a co-author of chapters in several books. In 2019, she was honored with an Emerald Literati Award, a testament to her outstanding contributions in the field.
