João Nunes-Pereira (JNP) is an Assistant Researcher (https://doi.org/10.54499/2022.05613.CEECIND/CP1746/CT0001) at the Centre for Mechanical and Aerospace Science and Technologies (C-MAST), University of Beira Interior (UBI), Covilhã, PortugalHe holds a Ph.D. in Science (Physics, 2013), an MSc in Physics (2009), and a BSc in Physics and Chemistry (2006), all from the University of Minho, Braga, Portugal.
JNP has authored over 50 publications in high-impact journals and 5 book chapters, with more than 2700 citations and an h-index of 29 (SCOPUS/WOS). He has delivered over 50 scientific communications, participated in more than 25 scientific projects and supervised/tutored over 25 postgraduate students (PhD and MSc).
Since 2014, his research has focused on Materials Science and Engineering, particularly on the development of multifunctional polymer- and ceramic-based composites for applications in aerospace, wind energy, environmental, biomedical, and other sectors.
In 2022, he became an Invited Assistant Professor in the Department of Electromechanical Engineering at UBI, teaching in the field of Materials ScienceSince 2023, he has been working at C-MAST on the EcoSensHeal project, which focuses on the development of recyclable multifunctional structural composites with self-sensing and self-healing capabilities (Project EcoSensHeal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7j6ydQzv1Uo&ab_channel=UBIUniversidadedaBeiraInterior).
