João Nunes-Pereira received the Ph.D. degree in Science in 2013, the M.Sc. degree in Physics in 2009, and the B.Sc. degree in Physics and Chemistry in 2006, all from the University of Minho, Braga, Portugal. He has more than 45 publications (SCOPUS) in high-impact journal with more than 2000 citations, an h-index of 27, more than 30 conference communications and 3 book chapters. He participated in more than 16 funded projects and supervised/tutored several postgraduate students (1 Ph.D, 17 M.Sc.) at the University of Beira Interior (UBI) and at the University of Minho (UM). Since 2014 to 2023 he developed postdoctoral research activity in the field of Materials Science and Engineering at the Centre for Mechanical and Aerospace Science and Technologies (C-MAST), at UBI and at the Center of Physics of the Universities of Minho and Porto (CF-UM-UP), in collaboration with the Basque Center for Materials, Applications and Nanostructures (BCMaterials), Leioa, Spain. In 2022, J. Nunes-Pereira becomes invited Assistant Professor at the Department of Electromechanical Engineering at UBI in the field of Materials Science. Since 2023 JNP is an Assistant Researcher at C-MAST, UBI. His main research interests are related to the design, fabrication, characterisation and application of functional materials, with focus on the development of printable sensors and plasma actuators for flow control in aeronautics. Joao Nunes-Pereira has extensive experience in the preparation of polymer (thermoplastics, elastomers and thermosets) and ceramic-based materials, including multifunctional composites, their characterisation (morphological, structural, thermal, mechanical, electrical, dielectric, etc.) and application in areas such as sensors and actuators for flow control and de-icing in aeronautics, ceramic thermal barrier coatings, smart structural composites, electroactive composites for energy systems, and biomaterials, among others.
