João Nunes-Pereira (JNP) is an Assistant Researcher at the Centre for Mechanical and Aerospace Science and Technologies (C-MAST), University of Beira Interior (UBI), Covilhã, Portugal (https://doi.org/10.54499/2022.05613.CEECIND/CP1746/CT0001). He holds a PhD in Science (Physics, 2013), an MSc in Physics (2009), and a BSc in Physics and Chemistry (2006), all awarded by the University of Minho, Braga, Portugal. He has authored over 60 publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and 5 book chapters, accumulating more than 2,900 citations and an h-index of 31 (SCOPUS/WoS). He has delivered more than 50 scientific communications, contributed to over 25 research projects, and supervised or mentored more than 30 postgraduate students (MSc and PhD). Since 2014, his research has been focused on Materials Science and Engineering, in particular the development of multifunctional polymer- and ceramic-based composites for applications in aerospace, wind energy, environmental technologies, biomedical engineering and related sectors. In 2022, he was appointed Invited Assistant Professor in the Department of Electromechanical Engineering at UBI, where he teaches in the field of Materials Science. Since 2023, he has been working at C-MAST on the EcoSensHeal project, which is dedicated to developing recyclable multifunctional structural composites with self-sensing and self-healing capabilities (Project EcoSensHeal video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7j6ydQzv1Uo&ab_channel=UBIUniversidadedaBeiraInterior).
