Learning outcomes This course aims to give an introduction to the use of additive manufacturing (commonly referred to as 3D printing) for rapid prototyping, namely, the project, design, construction and post processing of parts produced by additive manufacturing;
It is intended to carry out small projects that encompass the design of the part for production by additive manufacturing, process selection, material selection and CAM settings, production and post processing.
Syllabus History and application scenarios;
Fundamentals of additive manufacturing;
Variations and applications of additive manufacturing;
Materials;
FFF/FDM, and MSLA;
Cartesian, polar and delta machines;
Actuators and sensors;
Work volume;
Speed, vibrations, accuracy and reliability;
External equipment and peripherals;
DfAM - Design for additive manufacturing;
Formats of CAD models;
CAM configuration;
G-code;
Material selection;
Mechanical testing of parts produced by additive manufacturing;
Failure analysis and prevention;
Preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance of equipment in the user's perspective.
