Learning outcomes |
The aim is that the students learn and apply several methods of inferential statistics,
parametric and nonparametric, and analyze statistical data with the aid of a software (like
SPSS).
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- Apply concepts and methodologies in the planning of laboratory and clinical studies, and in
collecting and analyzing statistical data from these studies.
- Understand and apply statistical methods used in the analysis of different data types.
- Use software that allows the statistical analysis of experimental data.
- Organize and present experimental data.

Syllabus |
1. Sampling. Determination of the sample size.
2. Goodness of fit tests: Chi-square, Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk.
3. Parametric tests: one sample or two-samples for means.
4. One-way, two-way and two-way with interaction analysis of variance. Multiple comparisons:
LSD, Tukey, Scheffé and Bonferroni tests, etc.
5. Nonparametric tests: independence test and independent and paired samples tests: Mann-
Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis, Wilcoxon, Sign, McNemar and Friedmann.
6. Simple and multiple linear regression.
7. Simple and multiple logistic regression. ROC curve.
