Learning outcomes	Main goals: This course unit enables students to have the main building blocks that allow a correct understanding of the concept of bioavailability, the factors that depends of their determination and implication on the therapeutic efficacy of the drugs. The student will be able to: - understand the basic parameters of Pharmacology and to recognize the general factors that contribute to the drugs bioavailability - Identify and analyze the protocols and results of bioequivalence assays
Syllabus	I – Introduction to Pharmacology II - Influence of absorption, distribution, metabolism and Excretion on drugs bioavailability III – Genetic and non-genetic factors that influence the Inter individual Variability of drugs response IV – Relationship between the chemical characteristics and drugs bioavailability PL: Influence of the pH of the medium and the pKa of drugs on their absorption/crossing of membranes - Laboratory study of the influence of pH on the absorption of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in the gastrointestinal tract V - Relationship between drug dosage forms and routes of administration and drugs bioavailability PL: Dissolution profiles of conventional and prolonged release oral forms of furosemide VI – Drugs bioavailability determination PL: Carrying out an in vitro test to determine the bioequivalence of a drug presented in different pharmaceutical forms. VII- Bioequivalence and Biodrugs
