The discipline aims to introduce students to different algorithms and computational techniques used in Bioinformatics, with a focus on their practical application.
Specific objectives: O1) Familiarization with algorithms and computational techniques currently used in Bioinformatics and their application to problem-solving in biology and medicine. O2) Exploration of computational tools and databases of interest for problem-solving in Bioinformatics. O3) Identification of research directions in Bioinformatics. Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
The assessment of the teaching-learning period consists of 2 tests (completed individually), 3 practical assessments (completed individually) and 1 challenge (in pairs).
Theoretical and practical knowledge test (T1 and T2) – 12 (6+6) points
Practical assessment, carried out in practical classes through: 3 practical assessments (P1,P2,P3) – 6 (2+2+2) points 1 challenge (D) – 2 points Minimum attendance of 60%.
The student obtains the classification of Approved/exempted from the exam if he/she obtains: Minimum attendance of 60% in pratical class; Grade T1+T2 >= 6 Final grade >= 10
Or Admitted to exam, if: 60%* attendance of practical classes; Final grade >= 6
Exam (60%) + 40% (relating to practical assessments and challenge already completed)
