Learning outcomes It is intended to lead students to use the fundamental tools for the different areas of work in film sound.
It is also intended that students will be aware of the wide variety of possible combinations between sound and image that they will be challenged to implement. It is intended that the student will be able to (1) create an audio support for moving images, manipulating several of tools available in software and hardware, (2) conceptualize the diferent types of listening expected in the audience and the different types of combination between sound and image, and (3) analyze and discuss with fundamented grounds the different components of sound in audiovisual examples.
Syllabus - Sound: emission, propagation and reception
- Representations of sound
- The viewer and the listening modes
- Audio editing and mixing
- Techniques for capturing audio
- Analysis and application of dynamic, temporal, spatial and digital effects
- Editing MIDI information and using samples
- Spacialization for stereo and multipoint
- Sound and Image: Synchronization, Parallelism and Counterpoint
- Sound jobs
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria Eminently practical classes, supported by descriptive documents of aesthetic aspects associated with human listening and storytelling.
Essential aspects of sound physics, acoustics and psychoacoustics are always taken into account.
Mastery of essential tools for sound capture and editing, mixing and aesthetic development is expected.
