Learning outcomes |
The main objective of the curricular unit Themed Seminars is to promote students contact with relevant and current themes in the context of advanced training in Design and with the most recent research in the area, from a specific or transdisciplinary perspective, unfolding as follows:
Know and contact the thematic and disciplinary diversity in the most recent advanced knowledge in Design; Understand the complexity of the topics covered and their transdisciplinary contaminations;
Analyze and critically interpret current knowledge in Design;
Communicate advanced knowledge and problematize complex topics;
Develop autonomy in integrating their research interests in the context of scientific debates in Design.

Syllabus |
Thematic contexts in Design:
Thematic diversity and diverse approaches to advanced knowledge in Design;
Academic research topics in Design and related areas;
Project practices that interrogate the Design field;
Historical contexts and concepts;
Intersections and thematic contaminations between design practices and academic research.
Thematic sessions:
The contents to be covered will be defined each academic year by professors and invited guests in agreement with the course leader. Each seminar will be integrated into a set of themes simultaneously arising from Design areas of UBI and from other topics of advanced knowledge in Design and of interest to this doctoral program. In this sense, the syllabus preserves its openness and flexibility, articulating itself with the impetus to remain relevant in the face of the needs to update the program and train students based on the main current advances.
