Learning outcomes The curricular unit aims to provide students with fundamental skills in the methodological and epistemological background of geographic information systems sciences, consolidating the knowledge acquired in previous UCs and preparing them for the development of a dissertation, project or internship and future development of knowledge in this field. The skills acquired are also aligned with sustainable development objectives. It is also intended that students develop oral communication and public discussion skills.
Syllabus a) Acquire scientific and technical knowledge of modeling geographic, environmental and territorial planning and development phenomena using GIS b) Develop project solutions for the acquisition, integration and spatial analysis of geographic information with integration of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems c) Develop project solutions for modeling geographic, environmental and territorial planning and development phenomena using GIS
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria This course is taught during the second semester, involving 30 hours of contact with the instructor, 128 hours of independent student work, and 10 hours for assessment (total: 168 hours). Successful completion of this course awards the student 6 ECTS credits. Classes are organized as seminars where different topics are addressed by the instructor or invited speakers. Assessment is based on an oral defense and discussion of a topic covered, and an analysis of a written report in the approximate format of an article intended for peer-reviewed journal publication.
