Learning outcomes |
- At the end of the Curricular Unit, the student must be able to: 1. Understand the assumptions and potential of qualitative research, including its ethical implications, based on its application in the field of Political Science and International Relations. 2. Design qualitative research projects by aligning research objectives with methodological choices. 3. Analyze and apply the main qualitative methods, recognizing their strengths and limitations. 4. Operationalize techniques for collecting and analyzing qualitative data. 5. Critically assess the suitability of qualitative research techniques and methods, recognising the range of possible methodological approaches. 6. Apply qualitative research methods and analytical tools, including data preparation, coding, comparative analysis, and data visualization using MAXQDA software. 7. Write and present qualitative research papers.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
- Theoretical-practical classes that combine teacher-led exposition with student application. The teacher presents the material, while relevant contributions and questions from students are encouraged. Whenever possible, active learning activities are used (including pair work, group work, quizzes, brainstorming, problem-solving, and other practical exercises).
Regular assessment: - Methodological practices: 20% (4 points) - Class participation: 10% (2 points) - Test: 40% (8 points) - MAXQDA activity: 10% (2 points) - Group project: 20% (4 points)
Alternative assessment (for students with schedule overlaps or those who are employed): - Test: 50% (10 points) - Individual project: 50% (10 points)
- Students are exempt from the final exam with a grade of 10 points or higher and are admitted to the exam with a minimum grade of 6 points.
