Syllabus 1-Introduction. Some features of the solar system and Earth. 2-Two-body problem. Equations of motion. Integrals of motion. True anomaly. Satellite orbit. Radial and transverse component of the satellite velocity. Eccentric anomaly. Kepler's equation. Elements of orbit. Position and velocity of satellite as a function of time. Elliptical, parabolic and hyperbolic motion. 3.-Orbit determination via satellite position/speed observations. 4.- Orbital transfers. Hohmann transfer. Bi-elliptical transfer. Interplanetary trajectories. Change of orbit plan. 5.-Evolution of the orbit. Gauss equations. Earth's non-sphericity influence. Atmospheric drag. Satellite reentry. 6.-Attitude motion of the satellite. Passive and active control systems. Sensors and actuators. 7.-Current problems of astrodynamics. Tethered systems. Constellations. Formation flying. Nano satellites. Space debris.
