Learning outcomes	1. To Analyze, understand and explain the political evolution of Portugal through the XIX, XX and XXI centuries; 2. To promote the academic debate, the contact with different types of sources and the research of specialized bibliography about the topics in discussion, in order to enable a critical view of the historical past that allows the understanding, also critical, of the present time; 3. Understand the dynamics and unfinished nature of the historical research and of the historiographical debate; 4. To provide the core concepts to the subject and determine cognitive abilities; 5. Encourage autonomous learning strategies; 6. Producing scientific texts.
Syllabus	Introduction to the Study of the Portuguese Contemporary Period (periodization, evolution of historiography, files, fonts, working tools) 1. Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria	Teaching methods: expositive and practical lessons; research papers; oral and written reflections starting from the texts provided or indicated by the teacher about the programmatic themes addressed. Written paper work (scientific article format) on one of the syllabus: 85%. Presentation of the paper work: 10%. Participation in classes: 5%. Possibility for the student to take the exam as long as he/she has obtained a minimum grade of 6 in teaching learning, the exam consisting of the rework of the written paper work.
