Learning outcomes The learning objective of this curricular unit is to acquire knowledge, understanding and abilities to detect abnormal eye conditions. Understand the risk factors of ocular pathologies establish their due referral and know their treatment.
At the end of this course the student should be able to:
- Identify the pathologies associated with each of the structures of the visual system;
- To be able to explain the origin and nature of each pathology.
- Knowing to relate between the pathologies located in different structures through the application of anatomical and physiological concepts.
- To be able to distinguish a pathology of acute and chronic nature as well as the need for referral according to severity and urgency.
Syllabus (1) Pathology of the Orbit;
(2) Pathology of ocular annexes;
(3) Lacrimal system pathology;
(4) Pathology of the Conjunctiva;
(5) Corneal Pathology;
(6) Pathology of Sclera and Epiesclera;
(7) Anterior Uveal Pathology;
(8) Pupillary pathology, refractive and accommodative;
(9) anterior chamber pathology and iridio-corneal angle;
(10) Crystalline lens Pathology;
(11) Pathology of the vitreous and peripheral retina;
(12) Pathology of the Retina
(13) Optic Nerve Pathology;
(14) Pathology of the Fovea;
(15) Neurovisual Pathology;
(16) Oculomotor Neuropathology
