Learning outcomes Objectives: To provide the PhD student with a set of competences on research methodologies, scientific text writing, critical analysis of knowledge in science and engineering of fibrous materials, ability to synthesize and design experimental work.

Knowledge, skills and competences:
Describe the various types of research methodologies, technical procedures for collecting and processing information and for planning experiments;
Describe the rules of scientific writing, as well as the rules for the preparation of scientific papers;
Analyze critically advanced scientific information in the area of ??science and engineering of fibrous materials;
Explore the interfaces of fibrous materials with electronics, biology and other areas;
Synthesis of complex scientific information in the area of ??fibrous materials and identify topics where there is a need to produce new scientific knowledge;
Be able to design a consistent work plan, including relevant research methodologies, present and defend
Syllabus 1. Research methodologies
2. Techniques for collecting and processing information
3. Experiment planning techniques
4. Discussion of research experiences, critical analysis and synthesis of information in a given field of materials science and engineering
5. Elaboration of the thesis plan, including:
• review of the state of the art;
• systematization of ideas: identification of the research problem, hypotheses to be tested and relevance of the study;
• selection of research tools and methods to be adopted;
• elaboration of the experience plan and identification of the necessary resources;
• prediction of results and goals to be achieved;
• preparation of a communication plan for work in scientific meetings and publications.
