Learning outcomes This subject aims that students:

a) acquire knowledge about the discourse of film criticism, its main characteristics and associated problems;
b) develop a critical and reflective sense in the practice of film criticism.

1.1 Discourses on cinema: analysis and criticism
1.2 Dimensions of critical discourse. Types: review and essay. Relationship between analysis-criticism and ethics-aesthetics, the figure of the critic, arguments of criticism
1.3 Practicing criticism of film criticism

Part II
2.1 Criticism and Analysis. Argumentation and Rhetoric
a) Textual criticism
b) Narrative criticism
c) Contextual criticism: queer and decolonial

2.2 Criticism, Cinephilia and Film Culture
The subjectivity and pluralization of Film Criticism
The critical potential of the Audiovisual Essay
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria Written exercises in the classroom - 45%.
Final written work, including oral presentation (between 3,500 and 5,000 words) - 35%.
Audiovisual essay (between 2m30 and 3m30) - 20%.
