Learning outcomes |
This course unit aims to describe and integrate the knowledge concerning the organs and cells of the blood and the Immune, Digestive, Endocrine, and Uro-genital systems, as well as their specialized functions in the human body. By the end of this course the students must be able: 1.To identify the blood components and functions. 2.To describe the anatomy, embryology, histology, and physiology of the organs belonging to the Digestive, endocrine, Uro-genital, and Immune Systems in human beings. 3.To establish the relationship between the anatomy and the physiology of the studied organs in order to later demonstrate the potential site of action and effects of drugs.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
Teaching and learning methodologies include lectures and practical classes. At the classes lecture-based the students are encouraged to participate, and in the tutorial-based classes the students work in small groups and the subjects are discussed between them with the guidance of the teacher. The knowledge acquisition of anatomy and physiology is articulated and facilitated using practical classes where the active participation of the students is required, and they write a short report with a discussion of the results. The evaluation includes 4 tests, mini-tests, short reports, answers to questionnaires, and participation. Each part contributes 25% of the final classification. At the average of the 4 blocks, the student must obtain a minimum of 9.50 points.
