Learning outcomes This Course aims to give an introduction to the study of organizations, so that marketing students perceive how companies are organized internally and how these influence or are influenced by other organizations, since they are not closed systems and that they interact with their environment.
At the end of the course the student should be able to:
i) explain the concept of Firm, the inherent characteristics of well-defined objectives, key resources and capabilities of firms, the implications of companies’ interaction with their environment, as well as key factors of competitiveness for which companies must pay special attention;
ii) to characterize a company according several perspectives: legal point of view, sectorial, organization, structure and functions, among other factor and
iii) identify and describe the main steps involved in the process of creating an organization.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The following elements are considered in the Teaching/Learning assessment process:
1 - 1st Frequency: 45%
2 - 2nd Frequency: 45%
3 – practical cases 10%.

Students who obtain a Teaching Learning Classification of at least 10 points will be exempted from the exam. In order to be assigned frequency and therefore have access to the exams, students must obtain a Teaching Learning Classification of at least 6 points.
