Learning outcomes • Knowing the principles of air navigation;
• Knowing the avionics systems operating principles, analysis and design methods;
• Being able to process avionics systems data (signal representation, spectral analysis, filtering, data fusion, systems integration, etc...).



Syllabus
Part I (Air Navigation) - WGS-84 Earth Model. Coordinates representation and transformation for air navigation. Loxodromes and Orthodromes. Basic instruments for air navigation. QDM and QDR. Inertial navigation systems.

Part II (Emission/Reception & Signal Processing) - General principles of emission/reception systems. Principles of radionavigation antennas. Radar principles. Representation of signals. Spectral analysis. Filtering. Data Fusion.

Part III (Avionics Systems) - Medium-range systems (ADF, VOR, DME, TACAN, …). Short-range systems (Radioaltimeter, GPWS, ILS, …). LORAN system (long range). GNSS satellite navigation system (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, …). Integration of avionics systems. FMS and FMGS system. TCAS system. ADS-B system.
