Learning outcomes This course unit is intended to study the heat transfer modes: heat conduction, heat convection and thermal radiation. It is intended that the student learns to deal with real-world engineering situations involving heat transfer.
Syllabus The theoretical program of this course consists of: Introduction and fundamental concepts; Conduction heat transfer (heat diffusion equation in plane geometry, cylindrical, spherical, steady state and transient regime, and the study of fin); Convection heat transfer (fundamental equations, the thermal boundary layer and hydrodynamic boundary layer, internal and external flow, and empirical correlations); thermal radiation (thermal radiation laws, black and gray surfaces, radiation between surfaces, and view factor). The practical component of this course involves the problems resolution in the classroom, the experimental and numerical study of heat transfer conditions in the laboratory.
